Green Party hopes to see the Province’s First Woman Green Candidate Elected in Memramcook-Tantramar

Megan Mitton

Sackville, NB - Green Party candidate Megan Mitton’s campaign will be kicking off on April 15th at 2 pm at the Sackville Commons. Mitton will be running in the Memramcook-Tantramar riding, on a platform of resilient communities, a strong local economy, and high-quality public health care. Special guest Jo-Ann Roberts, Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Canada, will be attending.

“I am excited to launch my campaign and get to work on the campaign trail!” said Ms. Mitton. “We need to have long-term vision to address the major issues that are facing our communities, from the nursing shortage to food insecurity. These are not new problems but they do require new thinking to solve them. I want to work hard in Fredericton to make policies that support healthy, resilient, climate-smart communities in Memramcook-Tantramar.”

Mitton sought the nomination for Memramcook-Tantramar on March 28th at the Monument-Lefebvre in Memramcook. With the support of David Coon, Green Party Leader and MLA, Ms. Mitton was acclaimed. If Mitton is successful, she will be the first woman in the province to be elected as a Green MLA.

The Green Party Campaign Launch will be held at the Sackville Commons Coop, 64 Main Street, Sackville, NB, between 2 and 4 pm on April 15th, 2018. Community members are invited to meet their Green candidate and learn more about her vision for a greener province, as well as about how they can help make the campaign a success. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.
